JOURNEY INTO MONGOLIA

8 LAKES TREK

Visit Elsen tasarkhai “sand dune”, Kharkhorum city and Erdene zuu Monastery on the way UB-Camp or Camp-UB upon availability.

Ulaanbaatar – Camp site (Bat-Ulzii soum, Uvurkhangai province) 480 km

  • Departure from Ulaanbaatar city early in the morning and 7–8-hour drive to the camp site.

  • Overnight: Ger camp

  • Food: Lunch and Dinner

DAY 1

Camp-8 lakes Khuisiin Naiman nuur 25km

  • Start horseback riding day 1. The Khuisiin Naiman Nuur or Eight Lakes were formed by volcanic eruptions centuries ago and are a part of the 11500 hectares Khuisiin Naiman Nuur Nature Reserve. The Eight Lakes are called Shireet, Mukhar, Khaliut, Bugat, Khaya, Duruu, Khuis, and Onon located 500 m to 3 km to each other.

  • Overnight: Shared occupancy tent (mattress, sleeping bag included)

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner   

DAY 2

8 lakes Khuisiin Naiman nuur 25km

  • Horseback riding day 2. Ride within the Eight lakes nature reserve through dense pine forests, expansive green steppes and up to a hills and mountains.

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

  • Overnight: Shared occupancy tent (mattress, sleeping bag included)

DAY 3

8 lakes Khuisiin Naiman nuur 25km

  • Horseback riding day 3: Ride within the Eight lakes nature reserve area which is extremely beautiful surrounded by coniferous tree-covered mountains and the forest clearings have multitudes of wildflowers.

  • Overnight: Shared occupancy tent (mattress, sleeping bag included)

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

DAY 4

8 lakes Khuisiin Naiman nuur – Camp 25km

  • Horseback riding day 4: Ride back to camp.

  • Overnight: Ger camp 

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

DAY 5

Free day

  • Offers a visit to local herdsman family, cooking class, hiking, and bonfire in the evening.

  • Local cooking lesson will be provided to immerse oneself into Mongolian nomadic culture. Sharing a meal with your hosts allows you to not only savour the delicious food but also to bond over a common activity and appreciate the culinary traditions of Mongolia.

  • Overnight: Ger camp

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Camp-Ulaanbaatar city 480km

  • Departure to Ulaanbaatar city 7–8-hour drive

  • Food: breakfast and lunch

FULL EXPERIENCE TREK

Visit Elsen tasarkhai “sand dune”, Kharkhorum city and Erdene zuu Monastery on the way UB-Camp or Camp-UB upon availability. 

Kharkhorum city the former capital of Great Mongolian Empire in the 13th century.

* Erdene zuu Monastery is the one of the largest and oldest Buddhist monasteries named “Erdene Zuu” which was built upon the ruins and foundations of capital Kharhorum in 1586.

Ulaanbaatar – Camp site (Bat-Ulzii soum, Uvurkhangai province) 480 km

  • Departure from Ulaanbaatar city early in the morning and 7–8-hour drive to the camp site.

  • Overnight: Ger camp

DAY 1

Uliastai River - Camp 20km

  • Start horseback riding day 1. Ride along the Uliastai river and canyon spend a night at the beautiful Ogotnii valley.

  • Overnight: Shared occupancy tent (mattress, sleeping bag included)

Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

DAY 2

Uliastai River - Camp 20km

  • Horseback riding day 2. Ride back to camp along the Uliastai river/Ogotnii valley. Overnight: Ger camp

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

DAY 3

Camp- Tuvkhun monastery 70 km

  • ATV/UTV day 1: Ride to the Ulaan Tsutgalan river “Red confluence” waterfall. The waterfall is counted as the biggest waterfall in Mongolia due to its height and width.

  • Spend a night camping nearby a Tuvkhun monastery. Tuvkhuin monastery is one of the Mongolia's oldest Buddhist monasteries, hidden on top of the mountain Shireet Ulaan, overlooking a hill at 2,600 meters above sea-level.

  • Overnight: Shared occupancy tent (mattress, sleeping bag included)

Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

DAY 4

Tuvkhun monastery – Camp 70km

  • ATV/UTV day 2: Early morning visit to Tuvkhun monastery with a little bit of hiking to rocky hills and looking at the stunning beauty of wild nature in surrounding areas are the excellent fun, which makes you refreshed and enthusiastic.

  • Overnight: Ger camp 

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

DAY 5

Free day

  • Offers a visit to local herdsman family, cooking class, hiking, and bonfire in the evening.

Camp-Zegstii small lake/Kharvaa rock– Camp 20km

  • Horseback riding short day trip. Ride along the Zegstii small lake and Kharvaa rock through the forest, see small streams, get a glimpse of various wild animals and birds, and smell wild fauna and flowers.

  • Overnight: Ger camp

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

DAY 2

Camp-Ulaan Tsutgalan River “Red confluence” waterfall - Camp 50km

  • ATV/UTV day: Ride to the Ulaan Tsutgalan river “Red confluence” waterfall. The waterfall is counted as the biggest waterfall in Mongolia due to its height and width.

  • Overnight: Ger camp

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

DAY 3

Camp-Ar denj/Back Hill 16 km

  • Bicycle day: A short ride along the picturesque Orkhon river and up a Hill. Orkhon Valley and surrounding area are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it’s a must-visit place in Mongolia because of the rich history, cultural importance and natural beauty. 

  • Overnight: Ger camp

  • Food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Free day
